January 2018 Art Give-Away!!

It's that time again.... I am a little behind.  We have made it through the holidays, had some pretty cold weather and a little snow too...  A great start to the New Year!  This month I am giving away an 8"X10" art print of Red White and Black, one of my favorite flower paintings I did toward the end of last year, framed in a simple white frame to 10"X12".  It is colorful, a bit whimsical and done Bohemian style.  I hope some lucky winner will enjoy having this bit of happy art in their home!

This is the time of year that we all reflect back on the blessings and opportunities for our own personal growth in the past year.  I have been very blessed to have generous, loving, and positive friends, clients and family in my life and want to say a huge THANK YOU for your continued support and encouragement in my art.

It truly is my love and passion.  I want to be able to continue to touch people’s lives in a positive and light-hearted, joyful way.  Art is an expression of my joy in  my heart.  It is my therapy, my light at the end of the tunnel, my God-given talent that just seems to flow naturally by HIS power.  I am so thankful to have God at the center of my universe.  I pray that I can touch your life in a positive and beautiful way through my art.  Thank you for allowing me to do that.

I wish everyone a peaceful, blessed and happy holiday season and am excited to see what 2018 holds for us all.

Happy Holidays and my sincere heartfelt Thank You!!

Web Support for Sandra Lett, Artist

Visiting Sandra’s mentor, Matt Tommey in Ashville, NC

Hello everyone!  I just wanted to drop a quick note to all of Sandra’s friends, customers, and visitors and let you all know what has been going on.  My name is Greg and I am Sandra’s web developer, maintainer, and husband!  I met Sandra in November of 2012, and we got married in 2014; she is a wonderful person inside and out!  But you all know that already as you are here viewing her art:  her soul and heart.  My house is full of her works, I walk in from a long day at the office and she is there working on a piece or researching methods, ideas, suggestions for another work of art…she makes me proud!!

But I digress…..So why am I writing this???  I wanted to let you all know that we had a major issue with our hosting company; they determined that the new version of the CMS (WordPress) that I was using was filled with malware, and one of the outdated addons that I was using had created an entry for a hacker to enter my hosting account.  From this point, the hacker then was allowed to send emails from one of my other sites and we were placed on a Spammer Listing for sending out too many emails in one day.  So after completely scrubbing my servers, rebuilding sites, having them investigate the causes and completing “Terms of Service refresher”, we are back….and back with a vengeance!!

Sandra’s biography page is being rewritten, but you might be asking yourself “what does this guy know, and why do I care?”….and that is a great couple questions.  My love for computers started at a young age (at least relative to the era).  In the late 70s there was a computer called TRS-80, made by Tandy Radio Shack.  After that it was the Texas Insrturments TI-994A, release in 1981.  As a Junior in High School, I assisted the Math Teacher in setting up the first ever computer lab, a small room with 6 Apple IIs and a couple IICs.  My first program was a video game where a spaceship flew and you shot down meteorites, aliens, flew through caves, and had to land for refueling.  My Teacher almost failed me because it was “too complex for this class.”  I joined the US Air Force and became a Security Policeman.  My understanding of technology led me to being one of the first to install and use the “new” Zenith 100s in our squadron.  I created templates for our daily police blotters, as well as awards, decorations, and evaluations.  I also created forms that were used throughout the Security Police field for a long time, until the next generation of computers came online.  After 12 years as a Security Policeman, I retrained into Human Resources, and there is where my true computer experience grew.  The Air Force likes to be on the cutting edge of technology in the DoD, so we were always getting newer systems, newer networks, etc.   When the internet was introduced to the Air Force Base I was stationed at, I created a website for my job, which made distribution of documents and packages easier…..my first taste of Knowledge Management and Collaboration.  Which brings me to my current job…..I am the Deputy Program Manager for Knowledge Management for a Major HQs element in the DoD.  My team consists of 4 other local and 1 remote individual, whose sole purpose everyday is to make collaboration and knowledge sharing a top priority, minimize knowledge loss, create an obligation to share, enable action by putting the right tools in the place, building a a guiding team for Knowledge Management, and communicating knowledge vision.  that is a pretty broad statement, but the job itself is broad.  We serve over 200k personnel that are considered “knowledge workers” and our main job is changing the culture in the service that opens up the avenues of collaboration.  CULTURE is our number one obstacle, the military is not known to share….more people keep there knowledge to themselves, because you know the old adage — make yourself indispensable, then they can’t get rid of you.  That runs way too rampant in the service that I am working with…

I am updating her galleries so that her artwork is readily available for you to see; I am opening up this blog section so she can continue to write her blogs on her life, her thoughts, and her workings in the Art World!  I plan on trying to incorporate videos into her website, so you all can see her creative genius come out and form on blank pieces of canvas, walls, etc.  My goals are lofty, yet attainable……I want you all to be able to see the beautiful, creative, smart, and wonderful woman that I get to spend every day with!!  I hope that you see that my history in technology leads me to where I am today……working as Sandra’s web development “team”.  So please excuse the mess as we plow forward with her site and please come back often!
